Dal fry

Ingredients

  • Toor Dal: 1/5 Cup
  • Moong Dal: 2/5 Cup
  • Masoor Dal: 2/5 Cup
  • Onion: 1 Medium Diced
  • Tomato: 1 Medium Diced
  • Ginger-Garlic Paste: 1 tbsp
  • Chill Powder: To taste
  • Coriander Cumin Powder: 1.5 tbsp
  • Turmeric Powder: 1/2 tsp
  • Garam Masala: 1 tsp
  • Coriander Leaves
  • Salt: To taste
  • Oil: 2 tbsp
  • Hing/Asafoetida: Pinch
  • Cumin Seeds: 1 tsp

Preparation:

Pressure cook the dals in a pressure cooker for 3 whistles. Blend the dals with 4 cups of water.

Add oil to a pan. Add cumin seeds and Asafoetida to oil. Next, add diced onions and ginger-garlic paste and saute until cooked. Add tomatoes and all dry spices. Once the tomatoes are cooked and have started leaving oil, add the cooked dal and coriander leaves.

Served with steamed rice.
