Guvar (Cluster Bean) Dhokli



  • Guvar/Cluster Beans: 300 gms
  • Ajmo/Carom Seeds: 1tsp
  • Hing: pinch
  • Red Chilli: 1.5 tsp
  • Coriander Cumin powder: 1.5 tsp
  • Turmeric: 1/4 tsp
  • Salt: to taste
  • Oil: 2 tbsp
  • Water: 1.5 cup

For Dhokli

  • Besan/Chickpea Flour: 4 tbsp
  • Salt: to taste
  • Red Chilli: 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric: 1/2 tsp
  • Oil: 1 tsp
  • Water: To knead dough


In a bowl, mix besan, spices, salt, and oil. Knead dough with water. Make small marble sized balls and flatten between palms. Keep these dhoklis aside.

In a pressure cooker, add 2 tbsp oil. Once oil is hot add ajmo and hing. Next add the guvar/cluster beans. Add some water and mix well. Add the above mentioned dry spices. Once the water starts to boil add the dhoklis. Please stir the mixture or else the dhoklis will stick to one another.

Close the lid and cook until 3 whistles. Open the lid once the pressure cooker has cooled.

Guvar Dhokli is ready to taste. Enjoy this with Indian Flatbread/Roti.
