Mag Palak Dal



  • 1 cup Moong Dal
  • 150 grams Spinach
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Hing
  • 1 tsp Garlic paste
  • 1.5 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 small tomato
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp Coriander Cumin Powder
  • salt as per taste
  • Oil -2 tbsp
  • Water – 4 cups


In a pressure cooker heat 2 tbsp oil. Once the oil is hot add the mustard seeds. Once the mustard seeds crackle add hing and garlic paste. Saute it till the raw flavor is gone. Then add the spinach leaves.

Add all the spices to the spinach. Let them fry for sometime.Then add the moong dal and let it fry for sometime.

Add 4 cups of water. Close the cooker and let it cook for 3 whistles.

Serve hot with steamed rice.
